Committee advances bond, utility and tax measures; holds several public safety items for later review
The Finance, Governance and Public Safety Committee met March 10, 2026 (26th Floor, Council Chamber). Members Andrea Bough, Darrell Curls and Wes Rogers were present. The committee approved or recommended passage of multiple finance items (including creation/appropriation of General Obligation bond funds and changes to water and sewer charges), set several maintenance assessments at $0.00 for FY2026-27, and advanced property tax levies. The committee adopted resolutions to study a centralized fee/tax “one‑stop shop,” and to direct actions supporting people experiencing homelessness; it also advanced a sister‑city resolution and authorized a one‑year lease with renewal options for Pathway Financial Education. Several public‑safety items (detention facility moratorium, policing settlement funding mechanics, Midtown Justice Campus site review, Retail Alcohol Impact Areas, and related Violence Prevention Fund planning) were held for later committee consideration. Additional business included the Revenue Division’s tax audit function and notice of possible closed‑session topics.
